Introducing Shuffle Mode: Discovery Made Fun

You know that feeling when you hit shuffle on Spotify and discover a song you forgot you loved? Or when the algorithm serves up something completely unexpected that becomes your new obsession? We've built that same sense of discovery into Bar Savvy.

Sure, our analytics tools are powerful. You can slice and dice data to find venues with strange attributes that are somehow just printing money (Yes, I'm talking to you cheesy dueling piano bars).

But sometimes you don't want a plan. Sometimes you just want to explore. That's where Shuffle Mode comes in.

Shuffle Mode feature in action

How Shuffle Mode Works

Just like hitting shuffle on your favorite playlist, Shuffle Mode is beautifully simple. We take over 1,000 cities and more than 2,000 zip codes across Texas where there are active venues. We throw them into a digital bucket, and when you hit shuffle, we randomly send you somewhere. With that geogprahic filter in-place.

No algorithms trying to predict what you want to see. No personalization based on your search history. Just pure, unexpected discovery.

Available on Desktop and iOS (But iOS is Way More Fun)

Shuffle Mode works on both desktop and iOS, but honestly? The mobile experience is where it really shines. There's something about casually swiping through random venues that makes it the perfect time killer. If you're in the industry, I would consider it much better use of screen time relative to TikTok or Instagram.

What We've Been Discovering

Since launching Shuffle Mode internally, we've been amazed at what turns up. Cities I didn't know existed. Trends you start to notice across most every small Texas Town. For example, any small Texas town worth it's salt, has a Tex-Mex place that is just absolutely crushing it. It might not have Matt's El Rancho type sales but given their real estate prices, you know they are doing well. For the cities lacking this Tex-Mex place, is there an opportunity to open one? The world would likely be a better place with more frosted margs.

Collection of Texas Tex-Mex restaurants showing similar interior designs

Somehow every one of these Mexican restaurants have the same architect and interior designer.

Find an interesting venue, explore the dat we collec or open the Google Maps link, and poke around. Might find something worth copying.

The Joy of Random Discovery

Just like that random song that becomes your new favorite, there's something magical about stumbling across a venue you never would have searched for. Bar and restaurant folks are naturally curious about what others are doing, and Shuffle Mode feeds that curiosity perfectly.

It's exploration without agenda, scrolling with a cause.
